ABSTRACT

@#Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of simple knee trainer on active knee flexion in patients with hemiplegia after stroke. Methods From March, 2020 to May, 2021, 46 hemiplegics after stroke in Beijing Bo'ai Hospital were randomly divided into control group (n = 23) and experimental group (n = 23). Both groups accepted routine rehabilitation training, and the experimental group accepted knee flexion exercise training in sitting position through the simple knee trainer, for eight weeks. They were measured active knee flexion angle in sitting position and maximum flexion angle in walking before and after training, as well as Holden Functional Ambulation Category (FAC).Results Both active knee flexion angle in sitting position and maximum flexion angle in walking significantly increased in both groups after training (|t| > 6.991, P < 0.001), and increased more in the experimental group than in the control group (t > 2.185, P < 0.05). The grade of FAC also improved in both groups (|Z| > 2.828, P < 0.01), and no significant difference was found between groups (Z = -0.821, P = 0.412).Conclusion The application of simple knee trainer can effectively improve the active range of motion of knee, which may be used in clinic- and community-based rehabilitation.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To explore the effect of core stability training (CST) on motor of upper limbs after stroke. Methods 60 patients with stroke were divided into observation group (n=30) and control group (n=30). Both groups accepted routine medicine and motor relearning program, and the observation group accepted CST before training. They were assessed with Simple Test for Evaluating Hand Function (STEF), modified Barthel index (MBI), and the Trunk Control Test (TCT) before and 4 weeks after treatment. Results The scores of STEF,MBI, and TCT improved after treatment in both groups (P<0.01), and improved more in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion CST may facilitate the motor recovery of upper limbs after stroke.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo discuss the relationship between sit-to-stand velocity and dynamic and static balance respectively in stroke patients.Methods22 stroke patients were measured their time for Five Times Sit to Stand Test (FTSTS scores) and the static balance performance as well as swaying of center of gravity in lateral directions was recorded with GS-10A. In addition, the distances of functional reach test (FRT) when sitting were measured.ResultsBy using Pearson's correlation coefficient, FTSTS scores showed the moderate correlation with hemiparetic side, ENV. Area and distance of sitting FRT (r=-0.512, P<0.05;r=0.632, P<0.05;r=-0.662, P<0.01). Linear regression model, in terms of balance ability, showed the main factors associated with the sit to stand velocity were the distance of sitting FRT and ENV.Area. ConclusionENV.Area and distance of sitting FRT are the main factors associated with sit to stand velocity and both static and dynamic balance can predict sit to stand velocity.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo assess a simple apparatus measuring displacement of pelvis in clinical application.MethodsTwo testers measured the displacement of pelvis of 20 healthy young subjects moving their body forward, backward, leftward and rightward in standing position. The reliability of inter- and intra-tester was tested with intraclass correlation co-efficiency (ICC). And the validity between this method and Functional Reach Test (FRT) was tested.ResultsThe ICC of inter- and intra-tester were 0.91~0.97 and 0.94~0.98 respectively, and correlated with FRT (r=0.88, P<0.01).ConclusionThis simple apparatus can be used in a balance test.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between the motor cognitive ability and the incidence of fall in the aged people. MethodsAccording to the fall experience within a year, 91 aged people were divided into 2 groups: fall group and non-fall group. They were tested using the Timed Up and Go Test (TUGT) with the eyes opening or closing. The anticipated time, actual time and the difference were recorded. ResultsThere were significant differences between these 2 groups in the eye-closed anticipated time, actual time, the difference of eye-open anticipated time and eye-closed anticipated time, the difference of eye-open anticipated time and actual time (P<0.05). ConclusionThe motor cognitive ability of the falled elderly more depends on their vision. The motor cognitive disability is one of the factors resulted in fall in aged people.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo explore relationships among attention deficits, balance control and falls for stroke at chronic stage.Methods40 subjects were recruited. Fall histories were collected by Questionnaire. The Cancellation Test was used to measure sustained attention. The Berg Balance Scale (BBS) was used to measure the balance ability.Results14 subjects fell among 40 subjects, with fall rate 35%. Sustained attention scores were found to correlate with measures of balance (r=0.550, P<0.01) and with the number of fall(r=-0.458, P<0.01). Balance scores were found to correlate with the number of fall(r=-0.500, P<0.01). Scores for attention and balance for fallers were found to be significantly different from the scores of non-fallers(P=0.006, P=0.004 respectively).ConclusionHigh rate of fall can be found in stroke at chronic stage with a significant relationship among attention deficit, balance control and fall.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between the weight-bearing of affected side and the functional mobility in stroke patients.Methods36 hemiparetic stroke patients participated in this study. They were asked to measure the ration of the weight-bearing of affected side on the undisturbed and maximum situations, as well as the time for Timed "Up and Go" Test (TUGT) and Sit-to-Stand Test. The correlation between the ration of the weight-bearing of affected side on maximum situations and the time for the TUGT and Sit-to-Stand Test were analysed statistically with Spearman's correlation in those stroke patients whose ration of the weight-bearing of affected side on undisturbed situations was less than 50%.ResultsThere were correlation between the ration of the weight-baring of affected side on maximum situations and the time for the TUGT (r=-0.605, P<0.01) and the time for the Sit-to-Stand Test (r=-0.456, P<0.05).ConclusionA good relationship exists between the weight-bearing of affected side and the functional mobility in stroke patients.

ABSTRACT

@# With the popularization of rehabilitation and the development of the physiotherapy, some chronic diseases do not only mean the history of the patients, but also the objects of physiotherapy. The exercises will affect the cardiopulmonary function of the patient, and result in a high risk of accident. This article would review the risk factors and risk management in physiotherapy for chronic diseases.

ABSTRACT

@# Objective To explore the correlation between cognitive ability and motor ability in stroke patients. Methods 30 stroke patients were assessed with the 3 m Timed Up and Go Test (TUG). The anticipated time by patients and the actual time were recorded, and their difference was caculated, named as the cognitive error. They were also assessed with Trail Making Test-Part A (TMT-A). The actual time of TUG, cognitive error and the time of TMT-A was compared among different groups of Brunnstrom stage of lower limb, and their correlation was analyzed. Results There was a significant difference between the actual time of TUG between Brunnstrom stage Ⅲ and Ⅴ (F=4.600, P<0.05). There was positive correlation between actual time of TUG and cognitive error(r=0.844, P<0.01), time of TMT-A and cognitive error(r=0.508, P<0.01), time of TMT-A and actual time of TUG (r=0.414, P<0.05). Conclusion Motor ability of stroke patients can be influenced by deficient attention and motor cognition.
